Milan design week 2016: a week of creativity and innovation

From April 12 to 17, 2016, Milan was the world capital of design, hosting the 55th edition of the Salone del Mobile and the Fuorisalone, with over 1000 events, 2400 exhibitors and 9 thematic districts. A week full of stimuli, surprises and discoveries, which involved thousands of visitors and enthusiasts, among professionals, students and curious.

Legatoria Conti Borbone, one of the most prestigious and recognized realities in the field of artistic bookbinding in Italy, participated in the European Days of Art Crafts, an annual event that celebrates the richness and diversity of artistic craftsmanship in Europe. In our shop in Corso Magenta, 31, we exhibited our unique and personalized products, such as photo albums, diaries, boxes and chests, made with precious materials such as hand-marbled paper and leather, and worked with traditional techniques and tools.

In addition, we had the pleasure of hosting the prestigious Tura, a design and furniture company, founded in 1939 by Osvaldo Tura. Tura is famous for its production of furniture and objects of great effect, made with precious materials such as bronze, glass, wood and leather. Tura is synonymous with elegance, refinement and originality, and its products are exhibited in museums and the most exclusive houses in the world.

The visitors of our shop were able to admire the works of Tura and discover the secrets of bookbinding, attending the live demonstrations of our craftsmen. We also offered personalized services and special offers to our customers, who appreciated the quality and beauty of our masterpieces.

Milan design week 2016 was a unique opportunity to show our savoir-faire and our passion for the art craft, and to get in touch with other creative and innovative realities. We are proud to have participated in this event, which has enhanced the cultural heritage, creativity and innovation of the art crafts in Europe.

Angelo Marchesi

I am Angelo Marchesi, a bookbinder following in the footsteps of my family, who owns the Bookbinding Conti Borbone, founded over a hundred years ago. My passion is to preserve and enhance ancient books, restoring them with care and respect. I also enjoy creating new volumes, personalized and original, using high-quality materials and traditional techniques. Bookbinding, for me, is an art that demands dedication, creativity, and precision.
